First of all: Sorry for neglecting the English side of the blog! I must say, there hasn’t been too many posts in Finnish either. We’ve been doing exactly what I promised after the puppies left for new homes; just enjoying life and our dogs. The litter is 4 months old now and we think our Dex is the cleverest dog on this planet! All the other puppies seem to do fine as well, and even though I’ve been slacking with updating the website, I’ve tried to keep the photo albums up to date. Newest pictures of all of our little ones will be updated here as often as possible.
More about Dex… He is very different from Jadi and Malta in many ways, but at the same time very familiar in both looks and character. He reminds me of Suri, he’s got the same determination and focus she did, at the same time being a very cuddly puppy with lots of love to give. We’ve been doing some basics of tracking and obedience with him, nothing too complicated yet but he learns fast, loves food and always enjoys a good fight for a toy. He is a very social and easy-going boy, and we of course truly hope he stays that way.
Jadi shed all her hair this fall and has now started growing it back. I think there’ll forever be a hairless spot on her tummy though, on the very same place where she had the nasty wound caused by mastitis. The faint scar seems like it has no intention of fading away either. During the whole time her puppies were here she never told them off, and this continues very much with Dex now. Dex is having a lot of fun biting mum on the ear… Or the paw… Or the neck… Or the tail… When it gets too rough Jadi usually just squeals miserably. Softie.
Our Belgian import Sieni (I nearly wrote Mushroom again, the meaning of her name in Finnish is ‘mushroom’ and when we talk about her here at home we call her that.
) spent a week at our house last month. She’s grown into a beautiful sweetheart who reminds me of Malta so much. They are cousins and it really shows in the very similar expressions! Sieni is a friendly, stable little girl who is having a lot of fun training with her handler and second owner Laura. It was so much fun having her over for a whole week.
Malta went to her x-rays last month as well. The official results haven’t arrived yet, but I’m expecting to know next week. If you are interested in seeing the actual x-rays they are put up here. We also took the blood sample for a TgAA test, but we have to go back to retake it later since the mail service apparently lost the blood on the way to the laboratory… I’ve found myself to be more patient now than a couple years back, so no problem!
If everything’s in order with Malta’s health then maybe we’ll think of a litter of puppies for next year. I have some plans for that and also further, but none of this is that easy to complete and I’ve found my ambitions have definitely grown together with patience… Meaning there will be no litters at all if it is not possible to make the combinations true as I want them. More about this in the future…!
